SMS Notification For Magento 2

MageAnts SMS Notification sends text messages from your Magento 2 store when something happens to an order or an account: a new order, an invoice, a shipment, a cancellation, a credit memo, a hold or an unhold, plus customer registration and login. Customers get their own messages, and a store admin can get a separate set on their mobile. Messages go out through the SMS gateway account you connect.

Not on its own. Magento Open Source sends order updates by email only. Dotdigital's Magento integration can send transactional SMS, but it runs through a paid Dotdigital account. If you want texts sent through a gateway you already use, such as Twilio or MSG91, you need an extension like this one.

Five: Twilio, MSG91, BulkSMS, Textlocal and SMSGatewayCenter. You pick one under Stores > Configuration > Mageants > SMS Notification Configuration and enter that gateway's credentials. You need your own account with the gateway, and the cost of each message is billed by the gateway, not by MageAnts.

Account registration, login, order placed, invoice created, order shipped, order cancelled, credit memo created, order put on hold and order released from hold. Every event has its own Enable switch, so you can text customers about shipments without also texting them every time they log in.

New orders, shipments, invoices, cancellations, credit memos, holds and unholds. Enter the number under Admin Mobile in the SMS Notification for Admin settings, switch on the events you care about, and write the message for each. Customer registrations and logins are not sent to the admin.

Every event has its own text box. Order messages can pull in {storeName}, {firstname}, {middlename}, {lastname}, {countryCode}, {totalPrice}, {customerEmail} and {orderId}. Registration messages can use {firstname}, {lastname}, {email}, {created_at} and {customer_id}; login messages use the same set without {created_at}.

Yes. The shipment message can use {shipmentNumber}, {trackingId} and {carrierName} as well as the order variables, so a text can read like "Hi {firstname}, order {orderId} has shipped with {carrierName}. Tracking: {trackingId}." Invoice and credit memo messages have {invoiceNumber} and {creditmemoNumber}.

Yes. The registration form has two checkboxes, one for a welcome SMS and one for an SMS on every login, and ticking them brings up the mobile number field. Checkout has its own checkbox for order SMS. Customers who leave a box unticked don't get those texts.

Choose Twilio as the SMS gateway, run composer require twilio/sdk from the Magento root, then enter your Account SID, Auth Token and the phone number you bought in Twilio.

Turn on Country Flag and the mobile number field on the registration and address forms shows a flag picker that fills in the dialling code. You set the default country in Country Flag Settings, so most of your customers never have to change it.

No. It sends event-triggered messages about accounts and orders. It doesn't verify logins with one-time passwords, and it isn't a tool for sending promotional campaigns to a customer list.

It depends on where your customers are. SMS reaches any mobile number with no app needed. In markets where most shoppers live in WhatsApp, the MageAnts WhatsApp Notification extension covers order updates over WhatsApp instead.

Yes. Hyvä compatibility was added in version 2.0.1 and is sold as the Hyvä Compatibility add-on for $99, which you choose on this page before checkout.

The latest release, version 2.0.2 from April 2025, is compatible with Magento 2.4.7 and 2.4.8. There is a Community edition, and an Enterprise edition for an extra $100.

Free SMS modules for Magento 2 are available on GitHub. Before you rely on one, check which gateways it supports, which order events it covers, whether it can alert the admin, and which Magento version it was last tested on. A module that stops sending after a gateway changes its API shows no error on your storefront, so customers simply stop getting texts.
